Buildings, transport and electricity generation account for 74% of New York State's climate pollution according to the NYS DEC. Thanks to the passage of the IRA, there are generous federal financial incentives in addition to state and utility incentives to help us reduce our share of this climate and air pollution.

The Electrify NYC! Team is dedicated to help New Yorkers decarbonize their lives and thus exert pressure on the economic system to decarbonize. And by eliminating fossil fuels from your life, you will also improve the health, comfort and economics of your home and transport.

  • Join our effort by writing to us at climatereality.chapter@gmail.com and we will get right back to you. We meet online and you can find the dates on our calendar.

  • Request a presentation for your group or tabling for your event by writing us at climatereality.chapter@gmail.com.

  • You can also get started by watching the videos and downloading the presentation below.

  • If you live in or are a board member of a coop or condo we can help you comply with LL97. Scroll down for more details.

How to Electrify video Guide

This is a series of presentations showing how we can reduce our climate pollution by electrifying our homes and transport and sourcing renewable electricity with the help of federal, New York State and utility incentives.

How to Electrify: Chapter 1: Introduction

Learn why and how to electrify your home and transport and power them with renewable electricity. Includes an overview of the many financial incentives for electrification from the federal government, NY state and local utilities. How to Electrify: Chapter 2: Planning

In this chapter we discuss a simple 8 step process to electrify your home and transport and source renewable electricity. We hope that this makes the process easier and removes barriers to action. How to Electrify: Chapter 3 : Home Electrification

In this chapter we discuss home electrification. We start with weatherization and then move to electrification. This is a complex topic; thus, the longer episode! How to Electrify: Chapter 4: Transport Electrification

In this chapter we discuss transport electrification. While it's always better to take public transport or ride your bike, electric vehicles are far better than internal combustion engine cars! We share the incentives and other savings in this episode. How to Electrify: Chapter 5: Renewable Electricity

In this chapter we discuss how to source renewable electricity. One of two options, community solar or residential solar, will work for most people, regardless of what type of residence you live in. We encourage you to choose one of these options as both will save you money!
