NYC Chapter Meeting: Less Stuff, More Connection: Reducing Waste and Consumption and Fostering Community

During the holidays, people engage in celebrations and traditions that foster connections with their family and friends. From a climate and environmental perspective, an unfortunate side effect of holiday activities is increased consumption in the form of new consumer goods and increased food waste. For our December chapter meeting, we are featuring two guests who will speak about their efforts to reduce waste and promote a circular economy while providing opportunities for building connection and community.

Carlos Pesantes will speak about the genesis and evolution of his organization, The Compost Collective, based in Forest Hills, Queens. Anneliese Zausner-Mannes will present on her work with Nurture BK, Big Reuse and her other efforts to promote a circular economy and mutual aid.

Please join us to hear about how these individuals and their organizations are helping to foster a culture of more conscious consumerism and community. Register for this virtual meeting that will be held on December 12 at 6:30 p.m. here.
