June Chapter Meeting

After all the energy and great vibes of the April Training and the May Mixer, both new and old chapter members are excited to get more involved. Our June Chapter Meeting will focus on our working groups.

The Advocacy Team will talk about the work they have done on the IRA, All-Electric Building Act, Climate Superfund & NY HEAT as well as the critical plans for defending our ground-breaking laws on building decarbonization (LL97 & LL154). The Electrify NYC! Team will also talk about their efforts to help accelerate NYC’s transition away from fossil fuels through presentations, tabling and educational videos. Many members have indicated that they want to get involved and this will be the chance for members to join at any level of commitment and with any level of experience.

We will also have a session on the “how-tos” of starting a new group that will focus on the tools available and effective strategies to organize. We will discuss options of how new groups can work as they don’t need to follow the format of our current working groups. It could be as simple as someone taking on the responsibility of uplifting upcoming arts events from our chapter members. Or someone could take on an issue and be the contact point that coordinates our support for another organization, such as Beyond Plastics or CRETF. There has been a lot of interest in establishing groups focused on the arts, food, fashion, education, plastics, climate business and more – we hope that this passion is activated at the June Chapter Meeting.
